PARENT ANNOUNCEMENTS
From the Unity Board:
Guided by our mission and a desire to provide faithful leadership for Unity Christian, the Board of Trustees is introducing a new At Large trustee nomination process. While two trustee nominees will continue to be nominated by supporting churches each year, one At Large nominee will be sought from across the Unity Christian community through an open nomination process. At Large nominees will be considered by a nominations committee that seeks to match candidates' gifts, experience, and expertise with the Board's current needs. This change maintains strong church representation while creating an opportunity to identify individuals whose gifts and skills can strengthen the Board's work. Watch for more information in the coming weeks as Unity begins accepting nominations for this new At Large trustee position.
Vanilla Extract is Back!
Pick up your clear, homemade, imitation vanilla extract from the office today! Great for baking, coffee, ice cream, french toast, marinades, batters, yogurt, and smoothies just to name a few! All proceeds (free will donation) go to Unity's aquaponics program and arboretum. Please return your empty bottle when finished and pick up a full one!
Friends & Family of Unity: You are cordially invited to attend the Hands On Hearts In Campaign project dedication and groundbreaking ceremony to be held at Unity Christian High School on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
School Social Worker: Lindsey Borkowski is a mental health therapist through Sioux Center Health who comes to Unity Christian every Tuesday. She is here to listen, support, and help students navigate any challenges they may be experiencing. Each Unity student can receive two free sessions before services would need to go through insurance.
If you are interested in services for your child, please email Lindsey at lborkowski@unitychristian.net or call Sioux Center Health at 712-722-8222 and ask to speak to Lindsey.
Lunch Money & Pre-ordering: Please make sure your student has a positive balance in their lunch account and that you pre-order their lunches in advance.
Snacks for Professional Development Fridays
When our students have 1:30 dismissals on Fridays, our teachers gather together for professional development. We have been blessed with wonderful snacks for our teachers on these days in recent years, and we are again seeking volunteers this year. If you are interested and willing to help provide snacks for around 30 teachers for their professional development time on 1:30 dismissal Fridays, sign up here! Snacks for Teachers' PD Fridays
Emergency Kitchen Workers Needed: Parents, there are days when we have a need for emergency workers in the kitchen. Sick days, appointments and an occasional vacation day leave us searching for a “sub” for a day here and there. Would you consider being on an emergency list for days like these? The commitment would be to work from 11:30-1pm. You would receive a complimentary meal and a $15 credit to your child’s lunch account. You can always say “no” when we call. Thanks for considering. If you are interested please contact Maggie Reinke at mreinke@unitychristian.net.
Unity Family Tree in Courtyard: We would love to add pictures of our new families at Unity Christian to our family tree located in the Courtyard. We also know some of you have taken new family pictures and would like to update yours on the tree. Please send your family pictures to aobbink@unitychristian.net along with the names of your family members. Thank you!
Parent Teacher Conferences:
Mark your calendars! Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on: Monday, November 2 from 4:00–8:00 PM and Tuesday, November 3 from 4:00–6:30 PM.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are a great opportunity to connect with your child’s teachers, discuss their progress, and work together to support their success throughout the school year.
We value your involvement and encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to be part of the conversation. Sign-up information and instructions will be coming soon!
