PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES

We invite you to attend our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences, a valuable opportunity to connect with your child’s teachers, discuss their progress, and collaborate to support their academic success.


Conference Dates & Times:

Monday, November 3: 4:00 – 8:00 PM

Tuesday, November 4: 4:00 – 6:30 PM


Your involvement plays a vital role in your child’s growth, and we truly appreciate the time you take to engage in these important conversations. We encourage you to attend and be part of the conversation to support your child's academic journey.

STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

All-State Music: Congratulations to each of the 22 Unity musicians who individually competed on Saturday for a place in the All-State Band, Chorus, and Orchestra. 

The following students will be representing Unity Christian at the All-State Music Festival in Ames on November 20-22. This is the highest honor a high school musician can obtain. 

Band: Marielle Visser, flute 2; Adalade Ochsner, alto saxophone 1. 

Chorus: Millie Brommer, soprano 2; Corrie De Vries, alto 1; Lucas Erickson, bass 1; Karsten De Jong, bass 2. 

Orchestra: Caitlin Frens, violin 1; Adelyn Groenewold, violin 2; Naomi Ploegstra, viola; Benjamin Ploegstra, cello.


State Cross Country Fan Bus:

Any student interested in riding a fan bus to the State Cross Country meet on FRIDAY can sign up in the office. Sign up by Thursday at noon! We need approximately 20 students signed up to take the bus. Unity has to purchase admission tickets for all riders which includes parking. The fee to ride the bus is $15 per person, which includes the $13 admission ticket fee. You will NOT need to purchase your own ticket if you ride the bus.


School Picture Retakes: If you took school picture retakes, they are in the office. Please come get them!


Girls Basketball: If you are a freshman or sophomore girl interested in being a girls basketball manager, please contact Mr. Holwerda.


Veteran’s Day 2025: We would like to create an Honor Wall by gathering pictures of Veterans related to our student body. If you had or have a Veteran in your family and want to include them in this, please send a copy of a picture (4X6 or 5X7 - that will not get returned to you) the person’s name, service branch and years, and connection to Unity student body. Bring or email the picture and information to the office before November 1.


Handwashing is the single most effective way to prevent the spread of illness. We are starting to see

more illness, so please remember to wash your hands often!

Unity Christian High School would like to invite all Veterans and their family to our Veterans Assembly at 9:55AM on November 11. Join us for music, storytelling, and fellowship. 


Combo Night is Coming! You’re invited to Unity Christian’s Combo Night on Thursday, November 13 at 7pm in the Knight Center. Combo Night is a double theater performance of both the Fall one-act play “Our Place” by Terry Gabbard and the improv group “The Cast”. Additionally, a few student musicians will perform between the two drama productions. Tickets are available on Bound or at the door with a credit/debit card [$5 for students and $8 for adults]. We hope to see you there!


Meat Donations for School Lunch Program: Unity is seeking beef and pork donations from local farmers to support our school lunch program. Unity will cover all processing fees. If you are interested in making a donation, please contact Wayne Dykstra at wdykstra@unitychristian.net


Reminder from the school nurse: As we are entering cold & flu season, please keep your student

home if they have a temp higher than 100 degrees or are vomiting.

● For cough & cold symptoms (flu, COVID, etc), they can return to school when they have been fever-free for 24 hours without use of fever-reducing medications (Tylenol, Motrin, etc) and respiratory symptoms are mild and improving.

● For strep throat, they can return after taking antibiotics for 24 hours if improving.



SPORTS

Congratulations, Unity Christian Cross Country Teams! Both the boys and girls teams are headed to State! 


UC Cheer State Championship Routine Showcase: Thursday, October 30 at 5:15 PM in the aux

gym at Unity. You are invited to support our cheer team as we prepare to head to the state cheer championships in Des Moines on & November 1. Our team will perform their routines and have a chance to showcase their hard work and dedication on the mat in front of their home crowd of supporters. Please attend and be ready to get loud with them!!!
